Lanie Treen

Lanie Treen has spent the past few years as a vocalist, lyricist, playwright, musical director, and arts administrator – and hopes to continue juggling these interests without dropping anything heavy on her head.

Lanie has a degree in English Literature from York University, where she spent four years singing with collegiate a cappella ensemble Wibijazz’n’.  She co-founded Retrocity in 1998, shortly after graduating from York.  She has never quite gotten over her 80s crush on world-renowned sunglasses wearer Corey Hart.

Musical direction highlights include As You Like It, Love's Labours Lost and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Driftwood Theatre) and The Adventures of Joseph Andrews (Studio 268). She has written a series of short musical theatre pieces for Trafalgar 24 (Driftwood Theatre) and The Sonnet Show (Humber River Shakespeare).
